Biografia

Prof. Ventura obtained her MD and PhD degrees at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and then trained as a post-doc at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Since 2012 she held a Group Leader position in Duesseldorf, between the Heinrich Heine University and the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine. Prof. Ventura has a long-standing experience in investigating mitochondria-regulated neuromuscular diseases and aging. Her laboratory primarily exploits the nematode C. elegans as a powerful 3R-complying multicellular organism for genetic and functional exposomic studies in vivo, complemented by cutting-edge translational work in mammalian systems, with the ultimate goal of promoting healthy lifespan. Her groundbreaking studies have been recognized by high-impact publications in leading peer-review scientific journals (70 articles, H-index 32), a number of competitive research grants (> 3M € in the past 10 years), as well as invitation to present her work at conferences, universities and research institutes (> 50 seminars and lectures), to join journal editorial boards and steering committees and to review for several important scientific journals and funding agencies.
